A Sign of Innovation From SAP

The new technology products from SAP are aimed at meeting the demands from enterprise spheres for greater reach and real time computing.

SAPs Chief Technology Officer stated that these are 'the two areas where SAP is working to bring innovation, we looked at advances in hardware such as multi - core technologies'.

Three major innovations have come to the fore after SAP assembled a new development team last year. Engineers within the team have taken the Netweaver platform, added mobility and real time that will allow businesses to become un - wired and un - bound.

SAP stated that before the end of 2010 a high performance analytical appliance will be released that can attach to any SAP business management system. Sikka said that this was achievable as SAP 'have proven it is possible to process data at unbelievably high speeds of around 2 megabytes in a millisecond.

Project Gateway was the second innovation to be unveiled by SAP. Project Gateway is a technology platform specifically designed to provide a simple way to consume content from existing systems on a vast range of mobile devices. Again SAP have highlighted that the $5.8 billion acquisition of Sybase will vastly enhance its mobile computing offerings.

The third innovation is cloud based computing. SAP plans to roll out its full Business ByDesign on demand service by the end of July. Sikka believes 'companies in the mid market are ready to adopt entire business suites in the cloud'.

Do these innovations show a return to greater research and development from the World's leading business software provider? Only time will tell, however the innovations must be seen as a big step in the right direction.
