No More Big Acquisitions By SAP

Bill McDermott co - CEO of the world's largest maker of business management software is not planning any more large acquisitions after the company spent $5.8 billion on Sybase Inc.
McDermott stated that the acquisitions of Sybase 'should be viewed as an exceptional case'. The purchase of Sybase was pursued to help rapidly expand SAPs mobile offering. McDermott said that SAPs growth as an organisation should be viewed as organic.
The purchase of Sybase will help SAP to develop applications on mobile devices in particular Apple's iPhone and iPad. 'We see this as one of the most important business trends in information technology'. McDermott said the acquiring Sybase 'brings a whole new market segment for us, that would have taken us to long to build and we wanted to be the first move in this explosive market'.
McDermott claims that he can manage the company using his own personal iPad stating that 'mobile is the new PC'.
Evidence to support the claim SAP is not looking at any more acquisitions in the neat future can be found in McDermott's statement that SAP are not interested in buying Germany's second largest software company Software AG, despite Software AGs CEO Karl-Heinz Streibich suggesting that his company would be a good fit for SAP.
